deviantART Remembers Joseph Barbera
This past Monday marked the passing of one of the last true giants in the animation world. To say Joseph Barbera was a legend in his field is simply an understatement.

Joseph Barbera was born on March 24 of 1911 and began his career quite earnestly as a delivery boy for a local tailor in Manhattan and later on, during the time of the Great Depression he attempted to become a cartoonist for a now defunct local New York Magazine. Fortunately for the world of animation, he didn't end up getting this job and instead found employment with the Van Buren Studio in 1932 as a writer and animator till the studio closed down in 1936, after which he fou

for a friend
monday morning wake up knowing that you've got to go to school
spend the day feeling lonely and tongue-tied
the other kids don't talk to 'the uncool'
your mother says you're trendy
your father says you're hip
the kids say they don't like you
you take another trip
this isn't your real home, that isn't your real accent
the children say your mother
only had you by accident
the teachers call you jonathon
when your name is jane
they don't want to get to know you
so you take a trip again
your boyfriend has always used you, since the moment that you met
but you say you'll always stick with him
you're grateful for any male attention that you can get
we all knew you had trouble
but you never said how bad
it was quite an understatement
when you said that you were sad
monday morning comes round again and they're packing your things away
putting boxes into boxes
your parents don't know what to say
she never told us she was desperate
she never even said goodbye
there's a sense of peace in the playg

The general lack of the usual solid line art around the figure gives the piece a dream-like feeling. Leaving the line art only for the ...

I find this both creepy and cute. It has a look about it that makes me feel as though when my back is turned it would be out somewhere ...

I've always enjoyed drawing since I was little. I went to university in 2005 and studied animation where I specialised in stop-motion. I came away with a 2:1 with honours! Whilst I would like to try my hand at animation professionally, it has currently fallen into the territory of a hobby.

I give llamas as thanks!

I now have my earnings and my account back under my control.

I don't use this journal feature very often and sadly this time it is not to share positive news.

It would appear that my account was accessed without my knowledge on Thursday September 28th and my Print shop earnings were converted into deviantART points and then subsequently spent on plagiarised artwork from an account that has only been active for two months at the time of writing this.

I believe that the account the purchase has been made from is more than likely in on the scam due to the username (which I will not share here) being a combination of random letters and numbers and the Gallery only consisting of two plagiarised pieces. There is also the fact that I requested a refund of my points, explaining the situation, which was promptly declined.

I have now made sure to change my password and notify deviantART of the issue.

I now also consider deviantART partly responsible for this issue as at no point during the process was my email ever contacted to confirm that it was indeed me undertaking the transfer. I thought it was common place now to make email verification a part of any digital purchase online? The only email I did recieve was the one that alerted me to all of this by confirming that the fund transfer had taken place. Had there been any attempt to confirm that it was actually me wanting to transfer the funds into points I could have easily stopped it from going any further and would have known to change my password immediately. There were no emails or notifications of any kind referring to the actual spending of the points.

In closing, be careful with your account details and please let me know if my account seems to have done anything that seems out of character as it probably wasn't me.
